Filipino Films At It's Finest? Bwahahaha!

I just woke up this morning, haggard and still thirsty for more sleep. But as I checked new post, I need to share with you a funny antics on how to know if you are watching Filipino films. I laughed my heart out on this, truly a reflection of how Filipino Films are made and till now it haven't changed except for few talented scriptwriters and directors that were trying hard to upgrade the quality of our films. This is a repost from Adrian.

Moral of the story:

Ang pancit, nakakamatay.

4. Pag may magkaribal na babae, yung mabait diretcho ang buhok at may bangs.

Yung salbahe, laging kulot.

(Winner)

Airport Standby

Whew. For 4 consecutive days now, I'm rostered for a night flight and early morning arrivals. Just yesterday they changed my AVL to ASBY. The funny thing is, it's from 12 midnight until 4 in the morning... Wow, what to do but be thankful that we have a job right?

Well, since its still packed here in the cafeteria, I'm using my tiny handheld mobile to update what's happening.

I'm worried that for 4 grueling hours, I might gain extra pound to shed. I started with a tuna sandwich, bottle of mineral water and a kitkat for a break, ha ha ha. And it's only half an hour... I'm just glad i have my Green Tea HP to back me up! (wink)

So as I patiently wait for my duty I am just looking around, saw old Friends, chit-chat and more...recover and move on. Ha Ha Ha

Are You Hooked Already?

From Tamagochi To Pet Society, latest craze of virtual pets that took loners and couch potatoes by storm. I was hooked by these two fads in the late 90's and 2008. Tamagochi and the Pet Society has the same purpose...

*** To be a virtual friend and companion

*** To feed them with food or snack

*** Playing games

*** Cleaning and bathing

*** Cuddling and loving

*** Connecting and visiting friends

History of these virtual pets...

The Tamagotchi (たまごっち) is a handheld digital pet created in 1996 by Aki Maita and sold by Bandai. Over 70 million Tamagotchis have been sold as of 2008.[1] The Tamagotchi is housed in a small and simple egg-shaped computer.  And now, Tamagochi has been reinvented by colored LCD monitors and more.

The Pet Society  is a Playfish London studio production that lets you create your own pet and interact with your friends via Playfish website or Facebook whether your in the airport waiting for your flight or just sitting at home.

The metamorphosis of these two virtual pets came along way, certainly you will not bring a live cat, dog or rabbit in your bag and do these messy stuff for it to be happy and to survive right? Now portability and virtuality came to reality.

Are you hooked already...I am... and I called my pet... Megawati...

Too Much Of You...Toni B.

I hate listening to too much love songs... It makes me cry... Well, what the heck... Just cry & if I cry, I will cry a lot. I am not keen blogging my other side because it's already complicated that there are lots of things better to blog than me...

Like beautiful things and some of the not so beautiful stuff that is happening around me or the world...

My current status... I am coping... For what... For many things... That's how far I'm going to say. He He He... Thanks to your song Toni B.

I am coping, I am moving on, I will be okay...

.....

Don't leave me in all this pain
Don't leave me out in the rain
Come back and bring back my smile
Come and take these tears away
I need your arms to hold me now
The night are so unkind
Bring back those nights when I held you beside me

Un-break my heart
Say you'll me again
Undo this hurt you caused
When you walked out the door
And walked out of my life
Un-cry these tears
I cried so many nights
Un-break my heart
My heart

Take back that sad word good-bye
Bring back the joy to my life
Don't leave me here with these tears
Come and kiss that pain away
I can't forget the day you left
Time is so unkind
And life is so cruel without you here beside me

Un-break my heart
Say you'll love me again
Undo this hurt you caused
When you walked out the door
And walked out of my life
Un-cry these tears
I cried so many nights
Un-break my heart
My heart

Don't leave me in all this pain
Don't leave me out in the rain
Bring back the nights when I held you beside me

Un-break my heart
Say you'll love me again
Undo this hurt you caused
When you walked out the door
And walked out of my life
Un-cry that tears
I cried so many, many nights
Un-break my

Un-break my heart
Come back and say you love me
Un-break my heart
Sweet darlin'
Without you I just can't go on
Can't go on....

And The Oscar Goes To...

The best in the movies for 2008 was announced and I was excited to watch the 81st Academy Awards aired live via Fox Movies channel 94.

Straight from my Lahore flight which by the way a mixed of boos and woos, a CM that's very popular with crew to be strict and stiff and a whole bunch of good passengers from a connecting flights YYZ, JFK, DUB, LHR & MAN with all those international passport holders flaunting it intentionally (wink ). A passenger who smoked bravely in front of us near R4 door's slide pack and unapologetic to his behavior saying "don't scare me of the police!" (whuwattt )

Anyway, after landing, post security check and clearing the immigration. I rushed to a queue for a limousine service (yabang) worth 70 DHS so that I will not be late for the awards. (I still have the chills) .I don't have dirhams yet so I paid uncle $20 for the taxi ( huhuhu ).

I made it on time, actually 3 hours ahead of time. In the ad it says 0100 KSA so + 1 hour, so 0200H right? but hey, it's 0330H and it haven't started the pre-Oscar so I fell asleep and waking up around 0600H and Penelope Cruz was announced as the Best Actress in a supporting role. Hey!

I haven't slept yet because I have to watch Kate Winslet take her little man with her after 6 nominations spanning 14 years of painstakingly waiting for an Oscar from Sense and Sensibility, Titanic,Iris, Eternal Sunshine Of A Spotless Mind Little Children and the Reader...

Aside from Kate, Slumdog Millionaire is there.

As expected the underdog proved to be the superior contender from 10 nominations it bagged 8 Oscar's including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Original Song and more... It slapped the big studios producing Milk, Benjamin Button & Frost/Nixon.

It's worth the wait for Kate being nominated with array of stellar actress like Meryl Streep who had 14 nominations in her belt and 3 wins for her almost 40 years in the business, Anne Hathaway's first Oscar nomination for Rachel Getting Married, Academy Award winner Angelina Jolie-Pitt for Changeling and Melissa Leo for Froze River.

The Academy Awards amuses me every year with grandiose presentation and good host like "The Sexiest Man Alive" - - Hugh Jackman who proved to be a good dancer. Singing and dancing his way with Beyonce.

The way they present now is with 5 previous Oscar winners presenting the nominees and their qualities why they were nominated. Perfect!

Though the program was quiet long, I enjoyed it a lot.

Congratulations Kate Winslet, Sean Penn for Milk, Heath Ledger for Batman and Penelope Cruz for Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

Winners For The 81st Academy Awards

I'm always amazed of people putting extra effort to make predictions or leaked materials that pretends to be an official list of some sort.

I have one here for tonight's 81st Academy Awards or the Oscars.

As long as Slumdog and Kate Winslet are there, No Worries!

Confessions Of A Shopaholic

Approximately 12 days ago since I last watched a movie in a cinema house, I was eager to do it in Singapore but the movie houses there close early during night time so I opted to stay in my hotel room and sleep.

So, just this afternoon, I pushed myself to go to Marina Mall to what else?Window shop & actually ending up buying some nitty outfit. Then decided to watch the " Confessions Of A Shopaholic" since I'm a visual individual and I can't stand reading the novel, I feast myself watching it amongst the rest of the couch potatoes.

I would say that the film was another awakening call for me, a slapped in my face and really, a reality check for me & the rest of us, Shopaholics. I was depressed after watching it although I really enjoyed the film!

I realized that I am like Rebecca, the lead star. Shopping for me is an outlet to find happiness, temporary bliss only. It enlightens my spirit every time I see the words LV, ZARA & H&M. There is a hard-pounding and butterflies in my chest and stomach. I can't wait to see the latest collection or the classics of the brands I love. I rigidly visit their website to check for new items. Crazy really!

I indulge the smell of LV's authentic calf leather and the golden brown canvass that glitters before my eyes.

Then H&M & ZARA completes my trip at the mall... They have all the right ingredients for our taste.

Or it's just me...

And all this for what? For happiness that is not skin deep. Season changes and before you know it, you need to reinvent everything or throw it again because some may be out of style.

Is this a good investment? Nope. I am in limbo.

Films like this are not a fiction...It happens in real life and most of the time it's not a happy ending right?

We need to make a decision, to keep the golden cards and forever be indebted to this giant financial companies that eats our hard-earned money? Or to take a chance for a new life.

Shopping is really an addiction and indeed, therefore I am an addict! Am I still in denial about this?

I will do try to avoid bags, shoes and men's section this time...

I guess so! But I should act now before it's too late...

So I am taking a stand...

I will try to evade this thirst for the elegant paper bags and plastic bags...

No more magic cards for me, it's all cut into halves...

Just one step at a time... I hope I can bear this...

For a better me...

I hope...

Not So Earthly Photo

If you think that this is how our dear Earth looks like, Think again.

I was bothered a few days back when I heard of debris from satellite falling on earth's ground causing bush fires and some collateral damage.

One definition of the word satellite is a body that orbits a larger body.
If you take this as the definition of satellite then the answer to our question is millions!

This includes actual spacecraft, and any man-made debris that has been made during the past 30 years of space exploration.

People call this debris "space junk". "Space junk" orbits at a speed of roughly 7.5 kilometers/second. That is close to 17,000 miles/hour! Think of the damage even a small speck of paint could do to the space shuttle if impact occurred at such high speeds !

Another definition of satellite is a manufactured vehicle intended to orbit the Earth. This definition makes our count much less because it includes only spacecraft and not debris that orbits the Earth. The Goddard Space Flight Center's lists 2,271 satellites currently in orbit. Russia has the most satellites currently in orbit, with 1,324 satellites, followed by the U.S. with 658.

After 63 Years Of Waiting...

After 63 years of waiting...

the United States Of America will finally honor their promises to it's allay and regain its respect once more by repaying a lump sum amount of $15,000 for Filipino Veterans in the US and $ 9,000 for Filipino Veterans in the Philippines who fought for the US in the second world war.

President Obama will finally sign the stimulus bill which will release funds to boost US economy including paying veterans of war.

I am happy and fulfilled because my grandmother will finally receive this good news. My grandfather was one of them and is it worth the wait? I guess so...

It's not really about the financial help but the words promised by America during the war that they will help Filipinos and other nationality that fought for US.

God Speed...

Nothing Spectacular...

Finally I'm back to reality...Life that's full of fun, loneliness and lust. Back in the United Arab Emirates after 9 days of well, relaxation and headache, heartache and excitement, stereotyping and acceptance.

I would say that I have sinned in Singapore, really! Not the earthly or carnal thing okay but my mouth and thoughts can't stop complaining about how unexpected my experience in this small but progressive city of Singapore.

There were accumulation of good and bad experiences in Uniquely Singapore.

The hype of Singapore was too much for me to bear, that's why for almost half a year, we have been trying to get this sector. But I was too disappointed.

First time I arrived, I was struck by the excellent transport system and urbanization of this city, it's perfect, wide roads, high-rise buildings, mixed of old and new structures, high-end shops and restaurants and rules. Whether you follow it or try to bend it? Then imagine yourself hanging in a rope or shedding huge amount of cash as fine. People are disciplined however the human touch or heart disappeared.

I find Singapore as a snobbish and unwelcoming city. I am not generalizing all Singaporeans who live here but based on my experience, for almost 100 + hours a stayed here, I had a big headache.

People I bumped here were full of stress and angst in their system and they don't smile.

Maybe it's just me?

Because I was raised in an environment that harbor happy thoughts, happy living and giving. Entering any stores or malls, whether a posh or 7-11 stores, they are either not interested or too picky or too protective. It's like they are competing with the customers, Hey! given you are in a position that you own the store or just an SA, give credit to the people coming to your shops, Welcome them, greet them with a smile, if you are not happy that you are servicing us, let's change position and I am more gladly to serve others... or Maybe it's just me.

I hate discrimination...I don't tolerate it that's why I tell them in their face. I went to Louis Vuitton in Raffles Hotel. When we entered, as if a ghost entered the room, the SA are too busy either looking in the computer screen or in their mobile. I asked one SA about the Pochette Cles & see the monogram, damier eben and damier azure. She was faceless, no expression when she gave the items I wanted to check.

And then, I can't help myself, " Miss...It's won't die if you smile" and the she replied " Ohh... " and she forced herself to smile back. Grrrrr....

Anyway, when I went back to the hotel, I passed through Fairmont and the bellman, "Greeted me and Smiled" I raised my voice... "You're the first Singaporean to greet me and smiled geniunely." with all the guests hearing it and they nodded. Well, it's true and he made my day. All the bad experiences I had during my stay was erased by the Indian-Singaporean Bellman named Andan. Who never hesitated to welcome me...

I won't brag anymore...wrinkles...wrinkles...wrinkles

Though I enjoyed McDonald's only--The Indian store manager who returned my Nokia E71 when I left it after breakfast. For the Singapore Tourism Board who mediated the overpriced camera I bought from Bally Photo at Funan, I got back 130 SGD though it should have been 230 SGD. For Breadtalk and Singapore Flyer and the Taxis & MRT.

I just realized that behind the success of everything...we need to keep our soul and heart. It doesn't matter if you are rich or poor, as long as you have your soul and heart with you, you are indeed a wealthy person.

Maybe it's just me... Acceptance is the key maybe, that they were all raised like that... to be stiff, stressed, competitive, unwelcoming or just human nature... I don't not... It's not me!

So, Should I come back to Singapore... I guess not... Well, the feeling is mutual I guess... Peace... This is just my experience and definitely this varies from people who have visited the Singapore...

Teri Makasi and Xie Xie for the experience and the journey. I am deeply grateful... Thanks for the LV too!

Enjoying Singapore

I have my fair share of everything in Singapore...

Losing money & having fun, well it's one of it but compared to other stuff, it's okay. I met my long lost batchmate, our Italian beauty, Giada.

Went to Singapore Flyer with my brother, saw & amazed by the Merlion and the Esplanade with Lovely, John and my brother.

Ate a lot of Korean buffet and Mcdonalds. Went to the Pump with the crew at Clark Quay- got drunk and khalas.

It was the first time I went out with the crew, I had some booze and I dance 'till I forgot all my problems. I enjoyed for a while...smiled for a while and had a real, good and clean fun.

I wish that life is like this... but it's not,so we need to thank God for all his blessings... For putting us in the position that we are so lucky to have almost everything we asked from him...

All I give praises....

Gotta sleep... Sentosa tomorrow? maybe...

Movieworld At Hellenvale, Goldcoast

Our last day in Brisbane, I was awaken by a loud ring... KRIINGGGGGGG!

It was John, informing me that by 1000H, we'll go to Goldcoast... I said "the weather is bad right?" And he replied, "look at the window!" Viola.. A prayer answered. I see sunshine...

So eventhough I had mood swing... (PMS?) nope... other reason... I forced myself to take a bath and fix myself for a one hell of tour.

It was me, John, Rommel, Sachin, Sheetal & Kwang went to Roma Station going to Hellenvale via Goldcoast. I know I will stretch my strength riding the extreme rides, without breakfast... Whew!

Our first ride was the MRT (Superman) I swear I left my soul there, shouted my heart out. I will not do it again. Then took some photos here and there, I saw Batman, Wonderwoman, Tweety bird and more, I enjoyed the SHREK 4D and the Scooby Doo roller coster ride.

I know that if I am still on my twenty's I will exhaust my whole energy to enjoy these rides. But I already pushed myself to the limit. And I know or maybe feel when to faint or vomit. He He He

Anyway, I had a great time at Movieworld and with my friends.

Do I want some more? Maybe not. So Singapore... Here we come again, tomorrow.

Rainy Brisbane...

From the Fine City of Singapore to Queensland's capital, Brisbane.

As foreseen by the weather news channel, it will be a drizzling week in Brisbane, so what now? Can we go to Goldcoast? Inshallah! Hoping that tomorrow is a sunny day or so I wish.

I was assigned as the galley operator for mid-coral zone for this sector and I am excited and nervous because I am working with two great galley operators as cabin operators this time! Kwang and Lovely (happy birthday dear! Thanks for the pizza!). I am happy too because I was able to get the sunglasses I wanted from Marc Jacobs with half the price... Yahoo!

Going back, we had a great and smooth flight, lavatories were dry and clean, we finished early and we had one hour and a half crew rest, top that! Thanks Captain... A few bumps and fasten-seatbelts sign on and we reached Brisbane International Airport.

More beautiful people this time. I enjoyed it he he he!

Our hotel, the SEBEL located at the heart of Brisbane is a chic and hip hotel, I am loving the fixtures and design, it is near to most of the shops and restaurants and the city hall too!

I slept like a baby, 7 full hours...

Then went to see the team for a very sumptuous dinner at Jojo's.

The restaurant is jammed as we celebrate the Hearts day ;-(, However we were able to secure an 8 seater table, a delicious spicy spagetti marinara for me and steaks for the rest. I really wanted to try the rib-eye but tomorrow maybe. I had 2 bottles of Bondi Blondie Beer and I am solved.

We wanted to party but we can't find a nice bar so we ended up drinking for more at the Belgian Bar were Lovely our birthday celebrant was held up by the bouncer thinking that she's underage... Lucky for her.

Basically that's it for my first night in Brisbane, nothing much but I enjoyed the view.

I hope the the weather will cooperate tomorrow or should I say, later today so we can visit some picturesque scenery.

Too Bored Today!

Too bored in my room... My third day in Singapore is too boring, JC, Lovely and Robert didn't buzz me for stuff so what did I do?

Around 10AM I went to Mcdonalds then to Funan to try my luck for the fucking camera I bought that because of impulsiveness and stupidity, I didn't like it. And the bad thing is that Uncle doesn't want to exchange it... WTFFFFFFFF!

So being so pissed off, I went back to Swissotel, dropped by at Topman and bought 2 shirts...it's sale don't worry, I did't slash my card, I paid in cash. Still pissed off, I endulged myself with two Cadbury's wholenut chocolate bars...Hu Hu Hu.

Sad I am I tried to put myself to sleep but I can't... Woahhhhh! I'm having the blues my gosh!

So after rolling over in my bed, went down and ate at Burger King... Alone again!

I hope my Brisbane will be okay & Please on my 2nd Singapore I hope I will party...I'm too bored...

And tonight, we are off to Queensland capital, Brisbane.... weather forecast is okay, a bit rainy but I hope the sun will shine too!

Singapura...

Selamat Datang Singapura...

Wow, after almost 24 hours of not checking my mails, blogging, walking, eating, walking and eating again in Singapore... I'm back, online that is.

Well, just to keep my blog updated, EY flight 407 Abu Dhabi to Singapore was light load... bad for the company and of course, smiling crew La! Only 209 very quiet and very clean passengers in coral economy, good crew as usual and 6 hours and 40 minutes flight.

I have full of excitement to see Singapore, will it be more beautiful and posh like KL or not?

Then the verdict... My jaw dropped to see the clean city of Singapura. Very well organized, clean & did I say clean? Yes! And expensive (laughs!) It is ! But I don't convert anymore so I doesn't matter.

My first observation is that Singapore's urban planning is very well planned, trees are every where and the roads are wide. A mixture of old and new for the buildings...Tall buildings and more of the old-chinese or colonial structures.

I see food...food...food.

Singapore is a haven for Tourists... A melting pot for different nationalities. There are our favorite Indians...Malays...Chinese and the Caucasians.

People walk in SHORTS...Tees and flipflops...

Often I see dresses and high end bags...I love bags...and shoes, and gadgets and more...

Locals? Not that friendly! He He He... You want my honest opinion right so here it is...

*** Unlike other Asian countries, I would say that the people here in Singapore don't often smile. This is based on the streets, malls and places I have visited in less than 48 hours so I maybe wrong.
*** Busy with work maybe so the stress level is high
*** Street fashion here is practiced
*** Very clean road and surroundings
*** Nice shops, restaurants and buildings
*** Pork, Pork, Pork...
*** They encouraged their elders to work which is good to keep them busy and earn money like in Hong Kong
*** Transport system is perfect... MRT is easy to learn
*** Some LV products are cheap, most are expensive like KL
*** Many luxury cars can be seen here like in UAE
*** I see more Indians & Chinese than Malays... Why? Or did I just go to Chinatown and Indian Palace?

And during my second day, I was able to rub elbows with Natalia while buying my point & shoot camera at FUNAN (MTV segment producer & wife of MTV Asia VJ Jaime Aditya, now in CNBC as Segment Producer and Presenter)

There is more to explore in this small city... And I will post more update... Tomorrow, I'll go to Brisbane...( & Boy I am excited to see the Gold coast! )

Singapore-Brisbane At Last!

Whew, after almost 14 months of waiting...finally, the long wait is over... Singapore-Brisbane flight is ours...

If its few months back, say December, I should have been more or should I say very excited to do this sector. Why? because of the pay that's why? Now? Well, I'm still excited but not as excited, I will meet my long lost friend way back in Philippine Airlines days, Ma. Cristina Rosales, Doctor by profession, turned Flight Attendant then a very good housewife and mother for Huey...

I promised her many times I will visit her, all my friends here in Etihad and Emirates did except me, Why? Because I can't get the sector...

Anyway, no more bragging, it's here and we are ready.

I promised myself that I will pack light for a 9-Day trip and I did, I have plenty of space by the way... Please no more shopping, I wish! But I will really try not to be tempted by these BIG, BOLD, RED Letters that says     S A L E or the WHITE LETTERS that reads...

L O U I S  V U I T T O N... Not to day I hope...

Hay! Got to prepare now... I can hear that JC is all awake, early as always...

Ciao Ciao De Carabao

I'll just update this blog after 10 hours as soon as I reached Singapore La! Like the old cliche goes, its not about the journey...It's about the experience... Fine City and Gold coast... Here we come...

Just..Be Happy...

More often than not we neglect the simplest things that truly makes us happy...

Like waking up in the morning...ALIVE
The sun that shines brightly...
The water that quench our thirst...
The food we eat...
Good health...
Our job that pays the bills...
Our friends and family...
Our detractors that makes us stronger...
& God made it all possible...

Simple things yet we ignore these the most...

For me...I need to reflect more of the blessings that I have received over the years... Be contented on what I have and make it work! (Sigh!)

The feeling of emptiness makes it worst! I hate it! When you're alone... All of the stuff comes in... & I felt so low... sad...

Hayyyyyyy! Just one of the days to conquer... One of the days to forget, neglect or reflect!

Just Be Happy!
