South Africa is my favorite African country aside from Kenya, Madagascar, Algeria, Uganda and Tanzania. One of the safest maybe for tourists.
Again, I was overwhelmed by the modern, contemporary design of our hotel at Sandton, the upper east side of Johannesburg, Radisson Blu. The bed is perfect and the pillows were soft and heaven-like. Overall I am recommending this hotel for a perfect summer getaway, 2 minutes shuttle ride to Nelson Madela's square (shopping and eating area like Greenbelt) and around 7 minutes if you walk. Don't worry it is safe, just be careful crossing the streets and minding the signal lights & signs, most of the cars won't stop at you like in Europe and will run, straight to you and you might end up like the stray cats and dogs in Manila with their internal organs out in the street (yuckieee!!)
I slept like a baby here, rested well and regain my appetite to work again. After almost 12 hours working, we reached Oliver Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, the airport is huge, in preparation for 2010 FIFA world cup and indeed a long walk to our crew bus. Slept throughout the trip to hotel. Rested for almost 24 hours then flown to Cape town for a transit work. Finally saw the table mountain and I want to go there soon. After almost 2 hours of ground stop, duty free sighting and watched a funny movie "bandslam" were ready to go back to Joburg...
I can smell the pork ribs again.
It's nice to live in such place. I wanted to stay but we need to work and earn right so gotta be ready for another 8 hours flight back to the sandpit.
Till my next Joburg-Capetown flight, Don-kie!
