DUBAI SHOPPING FESTIVAL Just Landed!

All you shopping addicts, DFS will finally start tomorrow until the 15th of February. Most of the shop started to drop their prices. In UAE when it says SALE! They mean it! Just visited EROS, the official distributor of Samsung and Hitachi and they are selling 42" Plasma TV for a hefty 2,900 and 3200 DHS respectively, super cheap! And if you want to send it to the Philippines via FRICO Forwarding, additional 600DHS for a fully-crate protected package for our family. Best deal right. We are lucky that some of the international brands in Abu Dhabi will conjoin the sale for DFS.

I bet, Zara, Pull & Bear, H&M and Topman will have the best sale in town.

This is the time to be frugal right so shop wisely. For the luxury stuff, all will be on sale except for Uncle Louis (in our dreams maybe.)

History of The Dubai Shopping Festival

Launched in 1996, The Dubai Shopping Festival has been a drawing board for events and extravaganzas that have brought people together and allowed for a greater understanding of the world around us by its unique theme of bringing the world to one stage. With a now-famous slogan "One Family, One World, One Festival", the one month-long event plays a vital role in Dubai's tourism industry. It is segregated into many major attractions all with one purpose, to have as many ways of entertaining the guests in the city, and catering to each and every visitor segment arriving from around the world.

The DSF has marvellously redounded to all aspects of life in Dubai, with the expenditure snowballing year on year from AED 2.15 billion and 1.6 million visitors in 1996 to the tune of AED 10.2 billion and 3.5 million visitors in 2006-2007.

A Reminder

I guess that we have been victimized by spam mails and chain letters, telling you to send this to 30 or 40 of your friends in 2 seconds or else you will be forever be single or your great, great grandfather will die or you will have 20 years of bad luck. So, in fear, we send and before we know it, we don't have credits in our mobile or maybe we don't have 30 or 40 email address of our friends or we don't have much friends, so you will forever blame yourself because you will have bad luck. I did many times. But know, this has to stop, so I just post this but not to scare you guys if you will not send this or not, just read it, all of the statements are valid. That's it... Stay happy.

ONE. Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.

TWO. Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational skills will be as important as any other.

THREE. Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want.

FOUR.. When you say, 'I love you,' mean it..

FIVE. When you say, 'I'm sorry,' look the person in the eye.

SIX. Be engaged at least six months before you get married.

SEVEN. Believe in love at first sight.

EIGHT. Never laugh at anyone's dreams. People who don't have dreams don't have much.

NINE. Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely.

TEN.. In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling.

ELEVEN. Don't judge people by their relatives.

TWELVE. Talk slowly but think quickly.

THIRTEEN! .. When someone asks you a question you don't want to answer, smile and ask, 'Why do you want to know?'

FOURTEEN. Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk.

FIFTEEN. Say 'bless you' when you hear someone sneeze.

SIXTEEN. When you lose, don't lose the lesson.

SEVENTEEN. Remember the three R's: Respect for self; Respect for others; and Responsibility for all your actions.

EIGHTEEN. Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.

NINETEEN. When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.

TWENTY. Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice

TWENTY- ONE.. Spend some time alone.

Slumdog Wins The Golden Globe

The winners were announced today and as predicted, the underdog Hindi film wins the Golden Globe grabbing Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Original Score.

Oscars nominations will be announced on the 22nd and the heat is on for SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE.

And so for Kate Winslet, she won two awards Best Actress for Revolutionary Road and Best Actress in a supporting role for The Reader. She has 5 nominations in Oscar already so I am hoping that this time, she wins the little man.

Galley or Cabin

I was upgraded from my standby to KTM, Kathmandu which is expected because many crew are getting sick from weather changes or for something else.

So when I checked the roster, okay, 3rd in seniority only in staff no. ( I don't want to use that word!)
because many are taking advantage of that superficial word, hello you are 21 and I'm what? a decade older so have respect! Just kidding!

By the way, high-way so, I was kinda relax given that my pick-up that day was 1110H but when I called "transpo", they said 1120H is my pick-up, fine but Hey, it's 1137H and the pick-up is still in the loop, well, to cut the long story short, I got stressed because I am late & I hate being late, period! Grrrrrrr!

Luckily, all of us were late, Har Har Har

So, the briefing questions came, it went okay and finally C/M Nohuzk gave the position, Ebora- R4. Whuwhatttt?

But I'm only freaking at the back of my head, yet still maintaining my composure, thank you I said. After 14 months of putting me in LR3 or Duty Free, now I will take the galley... I'm excited and nervous, why? Because I want my cabin operators feel that they are well taken care of. All of a sudden, all the great galley operators from my previous airlines and here in EY came to me but God, all of them are coming & I don't know which one to infuse in my system because it's been a long time since I have that position.

I took a deep breath and told myself like in the deodorant t.v commercial " Kaya Ko To ( I can do it! )" with my hand clasping... Ha Ha Ha

I move fast but I need to concentrate and be efficient and effective, fast is just being fast but being effective and efficient are both different character. So I reassured myself while counting the meal carts, the frozen foods and all. This is it!

I was lucky that most of the crew I'll flew with were trained well, they know what to do, no attitude, willing to help and assist and funny. So a 3 1/2 hours flight and 5 hours coming in and out of KTM seems like 30 minutes only. I enjoyed every minute, I didn't eat well, I let them finished eating, like a dear mother-goose. And should I say thank's to the wonderful galley operators I flew with which served as my inspiration of becoming one like you, hopefully.

Everyday is a learning experience and for sure, my experience today will serve as a "post it" day.

Unusual Suspect

I'm kinda slow today so I apologize for not flooding your inboxes by my thoughts, insight and nothings today. I woke up late because the itchiness caused by the rashes on my neck almost killed me last night, so I overdosed myself with the anti-histamine medicine to calm my nerves and skin.

After taking a bath around 10 in the morning, I was lucky to have a policeman walking beside me so when I waved to the taxi, the "PATAN" driver stopped in no time. " Al Noor Hospital" Please.

I rushed to the 10th floor hoping that I will be the first one, guess not! It's Saturday and it's jammed pack with crew and pilots either on sick-leave or for validation of sick leave. I have nothing against this because I was once like that, when the last resort is to call on sick for a flight but I realized that what JAM told me last lunch time about the book we all read, " The Boy Who Cried Wolf " by B.G Hennessy.

Anyway, my concern is my neck which will hold the crown so I enlisted myself to nurse and prepared myself to wait in vain for my name to be called. At long last after almost 1 hour and a half, long chat with old and new friends, Ate Aimee, Cristia and Nerissa, I was assigned to Dr. Natalia...Very Russian Roulette, she did the Secondary Survey and then swabbed my neck, wrote the medicines and khalas, I'm off.

I bid goodbye to the fellow crew and I was hoping that the I will not be called for my standby tomorrow, with the rate the clinic is going, many will still call on sick and true enough, as I was writing this blog, the very enticing and irritating red, bold and flashing alert said that I have a changed in roster. KTM! Viola, after 1 year, I will fly again to my native land, Nepal, as many of the people either tells me, you for CHINA, hello? Do I have China Eyes, Yellow Skin and Nihao Accent? Ah... Nepal? Ha Ha Ha... Nepal it is...

So, whoever called in sick for KTM tomorrow, thank you! Yes, From the bottom of my heart because, hey, its duty time right so I rather do something than stay at home for another 6 days staring at my wall, thinking what paint should I put. So, PRODUCTIVITY is my word for the day.

It's a bit itchy still... Please... I don't want to scratch it... Please!

I miss posting the things I learned today, it seems that multiply saw that I have too many thoughts that they disabled the icons for Photos in the blog tab, Just kidding.

Now that the anti-histamine is taking effect, I need to read first questionnaires before I pass out.

Good night!

We Love Stephen Sprouse

Louis Vuitton pays tribute to contemporary designer Stephen Sprouse who did transform the classic monogram to a more upbeat design and style. Though the world wide launch of the LV Graffiti starts today, according to a dear friend Ronnie, LV Manager of Abu Dhabi, UAE launch will be not later than February 2009.

So if you have enlisted yourself for the new design, I suggest to wait a little more.
