Who Is Annie Leibovitz?

Anna-Lou "Annie" Leibovitz (pronounced /ˈliːbəvɪts/;) was born October 2, 1949, an American portrait photographer whose style is marked by a close collaboration between the photographer and the subject.

Born in Waterbury, Connecticut, Leibovitz is the third of six children. Her mother, Marilyn Leibovitz, was a modern dance instructor; her father, Sam Leibovitz, was a lieutenant colonel in the United States Air Force. The family moved frequently with her father's duty assignments, and she took her first pictures when he was stationed in the Philippines.

In high school, she became interested in the various artistic endeavours, and began to write and play music. She attended the San Francisco Art Institute, where she studied painting. She became interested in photography after taking pictures when she lived in the Philippines, where her Air Force father was stationed during the Vietnam War. For several years, she continued to develop her photography skills while she worked various jobs, including a stint on a kibbutz in Amir, Israel, for several months in 1969.

She worked for Rolling Stone and then Vanity Fair.

She learned that you can work for magazines and still do your own personal work, which for her was the most important thing. It is much more intimate and tells a story for her as she works with people who love her and who will "Open their hearts and souls and lives to you."

Her famous works include Covers of John Lennon and Yoko Ono for Rolling Stone, taken 5 hours before JL shot dead. Demi Moore's 2 publicized covers, Demi's Pregnant Naked Photo and Demi's body painted suit. Other famous shots were of Queen Elizabeth II, Whoopi Goldberg, Barrack Obama, Bill Gates, Michael Jackson, Dolly Parton, Sting and more. She also do the yearly Walt Disney's Year of a million dreams!

Powerful Actress of Hollywood

Leibovitz is facing bankrupcy after years of financial mismanagement.

She's a great artist (period) Kudos and I hope to se more of her powerful works.

Tiger Woods For Vanity Fair

I ain't a big fan of TW. But he's a sports superstar. A bankable endorser, a father, husband and (accused) womanizer. Who are we to judge right?

But people like gossips, the big ones. Stars who fell from the pedestal tops our list.

And for Tiger, we feast on his mistakes, from the car crash, his fuming wife, his tale of kinky extramarital affairs, and more.

Vanity fair talks about his adventures, for VF February 2010 issue. read here!

See his cover story.

Personally, I don't like his photo but since Annie Leibovitz took it. I LVoe!

Planet Cafe Rush

I was too lazy to get up this morning, just watched big brother uber and up late and some crazy and sentimental tv commercial over youtube when Tata confirmed about our " siesta " in Planet Cafe.

5 minutes to prepare, so I jumped as usual from my bed and straight to my 3x3 shower cubicle, that's how small my toilet and bath.grrr! anyhow, I managed to put my overall and literally ran towards Salama St. cor. Hamdan to meet my dear friend.

We usually hang out there to de-stress, chitchat and watch arabic music video via MTV arabia or M. Eat my favorite Chocolate and Banana Crepe for about $5 and Shisha ( mint with grapes flavour ) for Tata around $9, not bad, and we can stay there as long as we want. Ryan came for a surprise visit too!

The food is basically affordable, ranging from $3 to $20, from sandwiches, pasta, shakes, salads, pastries and main course, mostly Arabic, Italian and American.

There is smoking and non smoking area where comfortable sofa and table and chair are available to your desire. There's WIFI too!

The crowd is mixed. From mid-upper class locals and expats. Arab and Filipino servers are there to assist you too!

Planet Café is a place where men in suits wield packs of Marlboros like badges of honour and gabble business behind the clouds of smoke that billow from their lips. There’s a separate shisha area and yet there’s not a no smoking section – meaning you leave rather hoarser than when you entered. This is a shame because looks-wise this is a decent little café. The cool stone interior makes it something of an oasis and it clearly wins the local vote judging by how full it gets – a central city location doesn’t hurt, either.

I like the ambiance of the place, the wallpaper is victorian and the chairs are modern. Everytime we go there, I feel relax and happy!

It's located in Al Markaziyah Near Etihad Bldg. Salama Behind the Big Mosque in Hamdan Street near RBS Bank Building. You'll never miss the signage.

Opens from 0800 to 0100AM daily.
