Remember The Name: Mo'Nique

It's awards season now, for acting that is! And aside from Sandra Bullock, another name stands out for her highly acclaimed performance, as a hard-as-rock, abuser mother in the movie PRECIOUS "from the novel "PUSH" by Sapphire).

Her name is... Monique Imes also known as Mo'Nique.

She was born on December 11, 1967 in Baltimore, Maryland. She worked as a phonesex operator before she decided to try STAND UP Comedy with her brother Steve. And as the True Hollywood Story goes, the rest is history.

She is best known for the role of Nicole "Nikki" Parker on the UPN television series The Parkers. The show ran from 1999 to 2004. Mo'Nique was subsequently featured on a number of leading stand-up venues, including stints on Showtime at the Apollo, Russell Simmons' Def Comedy Jam, and Thank God You're Here.



She was also named hostess of Showtime at the Apollo, and is currently the hostess and executive producer of Mo'Nique's Fat Chance, a beauty pageant for plus-sized women, on the Oxygen cable network. She hosted the first season of Flavor of Love Girls: Charm School on VH1, where she crowned Saaphyri as the winner.

Her luck is on her side as she is sweeping all the awards from the Golden Globes to the Screen Actors Guild awards, and hopefully, she will bag the Oscars on March.

She will also launch her own clothing line- F.A.T Chance for plus-size women. Great! Big Girls are beautiful!

Let's talk about the marriage of ever-gorgeous Brad Pitt and lip-luscious Angelina Jolie and their bid to become United Nation's Leading Foster Parents (JK).

It was reported that their marriage is suffering from a big stir. Brad Pitt's mother is desperately trying to help save her son's relationship with Angelina Jolie.


Family counsellor Jane Pitt - who is famously close to her son's ex-wife Jennifer Aniston - is keen for the couple to repair their five-year union for the sake of their six children - three adopted children, Maddox, 8, Pax, 6, and Zahara, 5, and three biological children, Shiloh, 3, and 18-month-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

A source told the Daily Mail website: “Brad is trying to cling on to the wreckage of the relationship as he is still very much in love with Angelina and believes they can make it work.

Jane Pitt believes her skills as a mediator will come in useful when speaking to Jolie to whom she has become close in recent months thanks to their joint work in setting up a cancer centre.

It was recently reported that Brad Pitt and Jolie were heading for a separation after signing a legal document that split their $US330 million ($365 million) fortune and custody of their children equally.

However, sources close to the couple denied this and insisted “everything was fine” between them. (CHOS!)

Friends also said the couple were planning to attend the Oscars together in March and had already started planning their outfits.

Pitt and Jolie - who has been married twice before - got together after meeting on the set of the film Mr and Mrs Smith in 2004, while he was still married to Aniston.

Let's just hope for their strong union. Angelina is coming with her new action-thriller film "SALT".

When iPhone hits the gulf region year 2006, I patiently waited to have it, went to some Indian friends in the black market and finally got it for a hefty price of almost $1100. Was it worth it? Yeah! Cuz I saw their eyes looking like kids who wanted my Lollipop!
